Projects
The transport of Norwegian gas to continental Europe is in constant development. New infrastructure is planned, and existing systems are being upgraded or converted to enhance efficiency.
Gassco’s role in this business involves it in a number of projects, often together with the oil companies operating on the Norwegian continental shelf. Current projects are presented here.
Norwegian Sea Gas Infrastructure (NSGI)
This project embraces a 500-kilometre pipeline from the Luva field to Nyhamna in western Norway, with possible tie-ins for the Linnorm and Zidane fields and a link with the Åsgard Transport pipeline.
These embrace the removal of the H7 and 2/4-S steel platforms in the North Sea.
Facilities at the Kårstø processing plant are being made robust for processing deliveries of light oil from Gudrun through a dedicated project.
Various solutions have been studied by Gassco in recent years relating to the future of the North Sea Gas Terminal (NGT) pipeline receiving facility in Emden on the north German coast.
A bypass is being installed to carry the Norpipe gas line around the B11 compressor platform in the German North Sea.
Compressor Upgrade Project (CUP)
Upgrading compressors at the Kårstø and Kollsnes processing plants in western Norway is intended to safeguard their technical integrity.
Kårstø Expansion Project (KEP)
The Kårstø processing plant celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2010, and the projects grouped in
The Kollsnes projects (KOP) are a set of developments intended to maintain and enhance the robustness of capacity at this gas processing plant.
