“As the operator of this facility, we’re proud of the way it works in this area,” says Alfred Skår Hansen, head of HSE and quality at Gassco.
“Simultaneous development and operation of the plant has been handled in a model fashion, and we extend our heartiest congratulations to the organisation.”
One of 80 nominated candidates for the Statoil prize, Kårstø was honoured for its purposeful and systematic commitment to continued development work while remaining in full operation.
Its extensive three-day HSE24 course, a new planning and risk management tool, and welfare measures were important elements in the nomination for the Statoil award.
“This comes as no surprise,” says Mr Hansen. “Good HSE results in both operations and projects make the plant a very worthy winner.
“Good communication between operations and projects as well as enhanced responsibility for contractors have yielded solid results.
“Despite an extensive programme to enhance plant robustness, the Kårstø organisation has taken care of safety while simultaneously maintaining operational regularity.”
