Gas flow modelling
The pipeline model system (PMS) is one of the large and important information technology tools deployed by Gassco.

The core team behind the new version of the PMS tool comprises project manager Svend-Aage Nielsen, Patrick Hendriks, Ola J Rinde, Ben Velde and Dagfinn Hansen.
Transporting the correct volume of gas at the right time and with the right quality calls for good tools, and Gassco uses the PMS to model gas flow.
The main job of the latest version of this analysis tool will be to monitor conditions inside the pipeline, such as temperature and pressure, and suggest appropriate responses to production disruptions.
Constant improvements to its tools is crucial to Gassco for ensuring that it can transport gas safely and efficiently through the pipeline systems.
Real-time operational monitoring of pipelines running for several hundred kilometres along the seabed calls for advanced modelling techniques.
The condition of each pipeline will be updated every minute around the clock by the new PMS. It will also provide more exact calculations and forecasts of gas quality.
Pipeline infrastructure has become more complex, and the need to mix various gas qualities has increased. A growing volume of information calls for advanced tools with good functionality and high user-friendliness.
